At UCN, sustainability is not an afterthought—it is an integral part of how we connect the global logistics community. As our industry evolves, so does our responsibility to operate more consciously and contribute to a cleaner, healthier world. The UCN 2025 Conference marked another meaningful step in this journey through our continued commitment to the Net Zero Project.
“Net Zero” represents a global effort to balance greenhouse gas emissions with actions that remove or offset them. In alignment with this goal, UCN, with the help of InterLOG and WR1 Vietnam, undertook a comprehensive carbon emission measurement for the UCN 2025 Conference, focusing on internal and operational activities within the event’s boundaries. Delegate travel emissions were measured separately to ensure transparency and accuracy.
Understanding the Event’s Carbon Footprint
According to the UCN 2025 Carbon Emission Measurement Report, conducted by sustainability specialists LEAD ON, the conference generated a total of 47.699 tons of CO₂ from event operations. Delegate travel accounted for an additional 197.78 tons of CO₂, measured independently.
Rather than viewing these figures as a setback, UCN sees them as a valuable benchmark—one that allows us to take informed, meaningful action and continuously improve how our global events are delivered.
To address the carbon emissions and as part of our Net Zero commitment, InterLOG and WR1, launched a Reforestation and Carbon Offset Program in Phu Ninh, Da Nang City, Vietnam. This initiative supports Vietnam’s national “One Billion Trees Program 2021–2025,” approved by the Prime Minister, and contributes to:
All trees funded through this initiative were donated directly to the Phu Ninh Protective Forest, ensuring long-term environmental and community impact.
Each Golden Oak Tree (60 cm) planted through the program can absorb approximately 6.68 kg of CO₂ over five years, with a planting cost of VND 15,000 per tree. Participating organizations will also receive photos documenting the reforestation efforts—providing transparency and a tangible connection to the positive change created.
The UCN 2025 Conference demonstrated that global logistics events can be both impactful and environmentally responsible. Through accurate measurement, responsible offsetting, and collaboration with trusted partners, UCN continues to support the transition toward greener logistics and more sustainable industry practices.
As we look ahead, UCN, with the guidance of pioneering green logistics powerhouses like InterLOG and WR1, remains committed to strengthening its Net Zero initiatives and working alongside members, partners, and stakeholders to turn global logistics events into symbols of positive, sustainable action.
Together, we move closer to a cleaner, healthier future—for our industry and for the world. 🌱
